Just outside Wroxham are several museums and exhibitions about life on the Norfolk Broads and, and the history of the area.

Many of the Broads which would take a long time to visit by boat with the slow speeds and meandering rivers can be easily and quickly visited by road. Many are accessible by car with picturesque staithes and villages, and this is a good way of getting to know the area before deciding on a boat trip.  For example Salhouse broad has a fantastic little green and beach, great for kids to play.

Horning is the second busiest village to Wroxham.  Although an hour by boat, it is only 2 miles by road, and has three excellent riverside pub / restaurants, great for dining out, The Swan which is also a terminus of some of the river ferry tours, The New Inn (which often hosts steam engine shows etc),  and a little further along, The Ferry Inn, and there are several quaint shops, boatyards and riverside properties.

Less than 10 miles inland is the regional city of Norwich, famous for its Cathedral, Castle, Museum, Dungeons, and ancient walls. It also has a large shopping centre and outdoor market. Traffic is congested so the easiest way to get there is to go by car towards Norwich and then take the “Park and Ride” which you will come across after about seven miles from Wroxham on the edge of the City.

Potter Heigham is a must visit place by car from Wroxham.  This small village is set on the river Thurne, and like Wroxham has a very low bridge, only accessible by smaller craft.  There are many riverside chalets only accessible by boat.  There is a huge marina with boats for sale, and Lathams, a large discount store with a huge self-service fishing tackle shop
